Today, we'll let ourselves be guided
Hello, everyone,
Over the past few days, I wasMédianes in Arles for the G20 Micro-Publishing Summit, in Bordeaux with the IJBA students, and in Paris setting up our new office. We’re thrilled to see you here!
In the news: We’re hiring for two permanent positions at our studio—one in web development and one in sales. And we’d like to invite you to the Festival Imprimé, the festival for socially conscious journalism that we co-produce.
Back to this issue, where our reporter Marine Slavitch shares tips on how to make great cultural recommendations and features insights from François de Monès, co-founder of La Disparition, a letter-based media outlet and a newsletter dedicated entirely to recommendations.
Enjoy the read,

Ideas for Your Media
Have you thought about recommendations? Whether they’re featured in a nice Instagram post or form the core of your media’s value proposition, they can help you build loyalty among audiences who share your values and attract new ones through social media.
To do someone a favor
Movie and theater guides, reviews, artist interviews… The Instagram account L’Éloge specializes in cultural recommendations. With a romantic flair and a preference for arthouse cinema over blockbusters, the account shares recommendations for everything from timeless classics to the latest releases. This clear editorial focus truly serves its followers, who know exactly what to expect from the account.
Asserting One's Identity
What’s great about recommendations is that their lighthearted and personalized nature allows for a lot of creativity in presentation, while also fostering a special connection between readers and the people who put the publication together every day. The team at Nylon France has really gotten this. We recommend checking out their editorial team’s “Anti-Valentine’s Day Must-Haves,” with an aesthetic that’s somewhere between a fanzine and a diary.
Guiding Decisions
For the past three years, the paid mobile app from the cultural magazine Télérama has focused exclusively on recommendations to help its audience make quick choices based on their viewing habits. The content? A daily selection, the best of TV programming, and essential lists organized by theme or platform—all of which have become a daily ritual for readers.

LGBTI JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION
TREATMENT OF TRANSGENDER ISSUES: WE’RE NOT THERE YET
The Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, and Intersex Journalists (AJL) has just released a study on the representation of trans identities in the media. The bottom line? Despite improvements in a growing number of media outlets, half of the articles surveyed do not treat transgender people with respect. TAHZIO / EGO
WEB CULTURE MOMENT
In this episode of the Ego podcast, Tahzio, co-founder of the internet culture media outlet Spotters, discusses the challenges facing various social media platforms. “On Twitter, trends are driven by current events; on TikTok, by everyday life; and on YouTube, by obsessions or formats that give rise to all kinds of communities.” A fascinating interview.
