Today, we're becoming friends
Hello, everyone,
Do you have plans for Friday, June 2? We’ll see you at Web2day in Nantes, an innovation festival for which we helped create a special media program. Join Marine Doux for panel discussions alongside Vert, Le Monde, StreetPress, têtu, Alternatives Économiques, and La Déferlante, among others.
Back to this issue. Have you thought about creating a Friends Association for your media outlet? Today, we’re sharing three examples to help you explore this possibility and turn your readers into ambassadors.
In this roundup, we’re sharing an investigation by journalist Leslie Larcher on the rise of influencers in the podcasting world, a post by Jean Massiet that gives you an idea of the budget for a talk show on Twitch, Mediavivant’s fundraising campaign, and, of course, job listings.
Enjoy the read,

Ideas for Your Media
Readers' clubs, supporters' groups, associations… There are many ways to bring readers together and involve them in shaping your media outlet. From simple meetings to equity investments, these initiatives help strengthen your community and can even help fund your independence.
To fund its media outlet
By joining the capital of the Friends of Mediacités Society, the investment gives the right to a tax reduction equal to 50% of the amount invested. A clever economic lever for the investigative newspaper present in eight French cities. Especially since shareholders take part in building the media and can help organize events or approach institutions. True ambassadors.
To promote its values
The Friends of Far Ouest Association, an independent publication in New Aquitaine, allows journalists in the newsroom to run media education workshops and share their values through organizing screenings and conferences for committed journalism. In fact, it's with this association that Médianes has co-organized the Imprimé Festival for two years now. A way to fund a media while spreading its expertise.
To strengthen its independence
Le Monde also has its own Readers’ Society, chaired by economist Julia Cagé, which is dedicated to the issue of media independence. The organization participates in the newspaper’s governance and aims to ensure the paper’s “independence” “from all economic and political power.” The SDL is now working to attract a younger generation of shareholders by reaching out directly to journalism schools. This is a concrete way to engage new audiences.

JEAN MASSIET / BACKSEAT
ON AIR
How much does it cost to produce a talk show on Twitch? In this Twitter thread, Jean Massiet—the first political streamer to host the weekly show *Backseat*—breaks down the finances of his channel. Budget: €388,000 for a season of 23 episodes, with a revenue model that includes crowdfunding, ticket sales, sponsorships, funding from the CNC, and an online store.
LESLIE LARCHER / PODMUST
LITTLE EARS
Until now, podcasts haven’t been very popular among 15- to 25-year-olds. The arrival of influencers like Anna RVR, Mayadorable, and Léna Situations in the industry is a game-changer, helping to showcase the appeal of the format to these young listeners, who are looking for “relatable” topics they can easily identify with. This is set to energize the market.

THE IMPACT OF GOOGLE'S AI ON YOUR WEBSITES
At its annual conference, Google revealed the first details regarding the integration of AI-generated answers into its search results. This major change is likely to impact traffic to news sites and raises the question of how sources will be compensated (Translation: Owen Huchon).
