Today, we're landing
Hello, everyone,
A never-ending to-do list, gray skies, and total exhaustion—but November is finally behind us! It’s a busy time—the home stretch before the holidays… so we’re sending you all our support as we wrap up the year.
Does your newsletter always end up in your readers' spam folders? Are your emails cut off? To put an end to these headaches, Marine Slavitch shares three tips to improve your email deliverability.
And because there’s always something to celebrate, today we’re sharing another installment of our collaboration with the feminist magazine La Déferlante to mark the end of the year.
Enjoy the read,
— Marine Doux and Baptiste Thevelein

Ideas for Your Media
That’s it—your newsletter is ready. The subject line is catchy, and the content is well-spaced and well-illustrated. But have you thought about its deliverability—its ability to be received (properly)? Today, we’re sharing three tips to help you avoid any delivery mishaps.
Sort
Proper filtering is the first step to success. Repeatedly sending emails to non-existent addresses can automatically send your newsletter to the spam folder. On Sendinblue and Mailchimp, there are options that allow you to automatically remove these invalid addresses. Also, be sure to identify your inactive contacts. They lower the engagement rate of your emails and harm your newsletter’s reputation with email service providers.
Test
You always need a draft before creating a masterpiece. That’s why it’s important to test your newsletter before clicking “Send.” There are free tools that can help you be absolutely sure your email reaches the recipient’s inbox. Among them, we recommend Mail Tester, a deliverability diagnostic service that helps you spot formatting glitches, broken links, and code issues.
Respect
Consent is never optional. And that goes for data protection rules and practices as well. Before sending out your newsletter, are you absolutely sure that your contacts have explicitly agreed to receive your emails? Have you mentioned the content and frequency of your newsletter? Have you properly identified yourself by including your name and the name of your media outlet? There’s still time to make it right…

Spotlight on a project we completed
Strategy, marketing, design, technology… Since the summer of 2019, we’ve had the privilege of supporting the La Déferlante team in its growth.
A new web design direction, highlighting the magazines, and rethinking user journeys: this fall, we worked on a graphic redesign of the homepage and online store pages of their website, just in time for the launch of their end-of-year promotions.
With nearly 8,000 subscribers to its print magazine and more than 25,000 newsletter subscribers, we are proud to support a magazine created and run by women.

PROFILES OF JOURNALISTS AND INFLUENCERS
Which models work best for sharing information on social media? While HugoDécrypte is churning out news summaries by tailoring its formats to each platform, Aude WTFake is reconnecting the public with journalism by integrating its community into its newsroom. Thomas Wagner, founder of Bon Pote, favors a more assertive tone when publicly exposing greenwashers.

AI FOR REPRESENTATIVENESS
What if we started developing artificial intelligence systems that promote the positive representation of women and minorities in the media? Tools now exist to detect gender bias that creeps into news articles and to identify the perpetrators of misogynistic attacks against journalists and women quoted in news reports.

FROM AN AUDIENCE TO A COMMUNITY

Find out more in the latest column by audience development expert Maxime Leroy.
