How about you? Are you okay?

A look back at our projects and some announcements: take a peek behind the scenes in April.

How about you? Are you okay?

Hello, everyone,

In recent months, you may have noticed a number of new projects within Médianes: the launch of the Programme Médianes, the publication of the book Créer un média, the Festival Imprimé, and our participation in events such as The Audiencers’ Festival in New York and the Perugia Journalism Festival in Italy.

These are all wonderful projects that we’re passionate about, and they come on top of essential work with our clients, time set aside for the team, discussions about Médianes’s development, and the team’s growth (12 people).

Did we take on too much? Yes, without a doubt. Was it a tough time? Yes, definitely. Do we want to do things differently going forward? Yes, without a doubt. We want to learn from our mistakes and, above all, share them with you, because we’re convinced that it’s in the media’s best interest to be more transparent about these issues of workplace well-being and the realities of entrepreneurship.

Beyond bringing these projects to fruition, it was an intense, demanding period during which it was important to establish a framework and take steps to ensure the collective well-being of everyone.

To help us get through this period, we’ve set firm deadlines, expanded the team with freelancers, made a greater effort to listen to everyone involved, and turned down or postponed collaboration proposals. Finally, this spring we’re organizing a workshop with the team to take stock of the past few months and, above all, to envision a different path forward, where we hope the work-life balance will be more equitable.

To share more tips that make our daily lives easier, this week we’re publishing an article on the art of delegating: Delegation has been—and continues to be—essential for us, especially as leaders, so that we can share responsibilities and tasks without increasing our mental load.

Enjoyment at work has been a driving force for us since our beginnings. So it’s essential to take the time to savor our successes. Without the trust and support of our team, our partners, our clients, and our loved ones, it goes without saying that this period would have been very different. To all of them (and to you!), we are infinitely grateful.

Have you also gone through challenging times, and would you like to start a conversation with us and reflect on this together? Write to us! We’re especially here to listen.

Back to this issue and this month’s announcements: the start of a collaboration with Beaux Arts Magazine, website redesigns for Tenou’a and Éditions Hors d’atteinte, a graphic design project with Novethic, the launch of presale campaigns for Fracas and Pays, and a call for contributions to our Chemins podcast.

Enjoy the read,

— Marine Doux, Christelle Perrin, and the team at Médianes.

How to create media in 2024?

To celebrate the launch of our book *Créer un média* and our third anniversary, we organized an event at the Gaîté Lyrique to share experiences with the founders of independent French-language media organizations—such as Vert, StreetPress, Le 1, and URBANIA France. Here’s a recap of the event.

⟶ A project with Beaux Arts Magazine

This spring, we’re partnering with the team at Beaux Arts Magazine, a publication dedicated to the visual arts. From maintenance to development… We’re proud to put our technical expertise to work to help them manage their website. Behind this project: the Médianes team and members of our network! We’ll share more details very soon.

⟶ A design project with Novethic

Together with Novethic, an online media outlet specializing in sustainable finance and responsible economics, we are pleased to embark on a design project. The goal? To offer readers an interactive experience on the website.

⟶ The magazine is running a fundraising campaign to finance its 6th issue

PaysMédianes, a magazine co-founded by [name], is set to feature the Cotentin Peninsula in its next issue. 168 pages entirely dedicated to this peninsula in Lower Normandy—from Cherbourg to the marshes, from La Hague to Val de Saire—exploring the tension between rural life and the nuclear industry, full employment and isolation. To help make this adventure possible, pre-order the issue.

⟶ A website for the Fracas campaign

Since the beginning of the year, we’ve been helping launch a new media outlet dedicated to environmental activism: Fracas. From the website to the marketing strategy… you can check out our first project—and contribute to the campaign—at fracas.media.

⟶ Come share an ending with us in *Chemins*

This summer, Chemins, Médianes’s podcast that gives a voice to media executives, returns for a third season. What’s on the agenda? The end! If your media outlet has shut down, if you’ve decided to discontinue a format, to reinvent your project to keep it from disappearing, or simply if this topic inspires you, write to us!

⟶ New sites coming soon for Tenou’a and Hors d’atteinte

This spring, we are pleased to renew our partnerships with Tenou’a, a Jewish thought media outlet led by Delphie Horvilleur, and with the feminist publishing house Hors d’atteinte, founded by Marie Hermann. The projects? New websites.
