Looking Ahead to 2024
Hello, everyone,
Goodbye, 2023; hello, 2024. The Médianes team wishes you and your media outlets all the best!
🎯 What’s next? This year, we’re celebrating our 3rd anniversary! To mark the occasion, we’re launching our group mentoring program for media founders and our first book, dedicated to media creation.
But also: the third edition of the Festival Imprimé, which will take place in Bordeaux this spring; Season 3 of our podcast *Chemins*, coming this summer; and, we hope, many other opportunities to meet up in France…and elsewhere.
🎓 Médianes is continuing its support for journalism school students this year. The goal? To share know-how and expertise to help them create a media project. This month, Caroline Fauvel, Marine Doux, Pauline Butel, and Baptiste Thevelein are speaking at ESJ Lille, EPJ Tours, and IJBA, and the team will be at IEJ Paris in June.
Following a successful launch tour for its latest issue, the magazine *Pays*—of which we are co-founders—will continue to explore the Ardennes, notably through a photography exhibition, and will set out to discover a new region
We’re kicking off the year by sharing an adapted translation of the Project Management Guide, along with an interview with its author: Robin Kwong, Director of Audience Engagement at The Wall Street Journal. Also on the agenda: our best wishes for a great year in media 💌
In the announcements: the results of our latest collaboration with StreetPress, the third edition of the Festival Imprimé, the launch of the Afrotopiques website, recommendations for local media, and a new artistic direction for the Thiga handbook.
Enjoy the read!

A Guide to Project Management in Newsrooms
How to lead effective project management within your editorial team? That's the central question we attempt to answer in this guide.
Do you work in a newsroom and are thinking about launching a new editorial project? Are you planning to create a new newsletter, a series of reports, or an immersive investigation, but aren’t sure how to manage a project, let alone…
From the media's perspective

Meeting with Robin Kwong, Head of Audience Engagement at the Wall Street Journal
Robin Kwong oversees The Wall Street Journal’s strategy for engaging and retaining its subscriber base. He is also the author of *The Guide to Project Management in Newsrooms*, published by Médianes. We met with him in November 2023 at the newspaper’s offices in New York.

Review and outlook for 2024
Battered but not defeated, the press is navigating turbulent waters. Despite the challenges it faces, it persists during a time that offers an opportunity to reaffirm its principles. We wanted to highlight the issues we are committed to addressing.

⟶ An ambitious campaign for StreetPress
In late 2023, we partnered with StreetPress to launch a collaborative platform for reporting far-right activities. MédianesWe provided support at both the strategic and operational levels: defining the framework and messaging, distributing newsletters, monitoring the donation platform, sponsoring content, and providing day-to-day support… The result? Over 185,000€ raised against an initial goal of 100,000€.
⟶ The Imprimé Festival is celebrating its 3rd anniversary
After two promising editions, the Festival Imprimé returns this year on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Rocher de Palmer. And we’re once again joining forces with the team from Revue Far Ouest, with whom we’re co-producing the event. To stay up to date on all the latest news about the Festival, sign up for our mailing list.
⟶ A new website for Afrotopiques
Marie-Yemta Moussanang’s podcast, which explores the present from the perspective of the Global South in general and the African world in particular, is taking things to the next level. With a new website and strategic support, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the project with Afrotopiques on our website.
⟶ What challenges will local media face in 2024?
At the Festival de l'Info Locale, Marine Doux, co-founder of Médianes, shared her recommendations for local media. The key challenge? Producing less to produce better, while building a stronger connection with the audience.
⟶ Graphic design for Thiga's 5th guide
For the release of their fifth book, Thiga—a media and consulting firm specializing in product development—was looking for a graphic design style that was less academic and more editorial. In June, the team had asked us Médianesto take charge of the art direction for the layout and to ensure that the book’s diagrams and tables conformed to the style guide.
