THE MAY 2025 ISSUE
We're getting a makeover
Hello everyone,
We’re thrilled to unveil the new layout of our monthly newsletter! We’ve worked on the design, sections, and formats to better share our thoughts and keep you informed about the latest news from our media outlet, studio, and network.
To mark this occasion, we’re launching a new series of posts written by members of our team to share our behind-the-scenes insights and reflections, and to give you a glimpse into what we do. This first piece, written by Marine Doux, looks back at Médianes’ scaling up—and the mission that will guide us in the years ahead.
In this issue, we also tell you about the redesign of La Déferlante’s website, the continuation of our “Creating a Media Outlet” training program, and bring you updates on our latest publications.
And if you have any feedback on this new format, please let us know!
Enjoy the read,
MATHILDE CARLIER, PROJECT MANAGER AT MÉDIANES
Behind the Scenes
POST OF THE MONTH
A New Initiative to Strengthen Media Independence
Since Médianes’ beginnings five years ago, we have supported the emergence of new voices through a media outlet, a studio, and a network.
Today, as the landscape and needs of independent media continue to evolve, we want to take the next step to ensure we remain relevant.
In this post, Marine Doux, co-founder and editorial director of Médianes, shares our reflections from the past few months as well as our new mission: to empower the new voices we have helped bring to the forefront.

Our approach
STUDIO NEWS
A New Website for La Déferlante
For nearly a year, we have been working with the team at the feminist media outlet La Déferlante on a redesign of their website. The goal: to create a platform that reflects the outlet’s diversity while optimizing the user experience and the site’s performance.
Now that the new website is live, we’d like to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our work: from adapting the media’s artistic direction for the web to creating mockups, as well as providing strategic consulting to support this redesign.
