Why Join a Club?
Producing quality journalism with a viable business and human resources model is a challenge that every independent journalist today is all too often left to solve on their own. As we work with various newsrooms, the same challenges keep coming up: a lack of time, smaller teams, tight budgets, expensive tools, and the need to build and retain a loyal audience.
Independence isn't just a matter for individual newsrooms. It is also built collectively, around the journalistic, ethical, and human values that already unite us.
What We've Learned
Since 2020, we have been supporting founders, executives, journalists, and students in partnership with more than 150 news organizations, including Contexte, Disclose, INA, La Croix, Le Cri, Le Monde, RSF, Socialter, and Vert, as well as more than 5,000 readers each month.
In France, the Program offersMédianes an eight-month group mentoring program for founders of emerging media outlets. Over the course of four cycles, the program has supported about 40 media outlets, including Arrêt sur images, Climax, Flaash, Gaze, Les 3 Ours, Quoi de Mum, and Vertige.
At the European level, we coordinate Sphera Network, a network of ten media outlets in seven countries: 444 (Hungary), El Salto (Spain), Popaganda (Greece), StreetPress (France), Krytyka Polityczna (Poland), and VD News (Italy).
You told us that the adventure shouldn’t end with the training, but should continue in a place where we could keep meeting and helping one another. The Club is the next step in that journey.
What the Club Offers
A forum. A permanent space for discussion among journalists, executives, and creators, where they can explore independence in all its forms—economic, editorial, and technological—as well as administration, design, marketing, technology, and management.
Tools. Ours and those of our partners, at negotiated rates, to save time and reduce costs.
A directory and a map. A Europe-wide directory of independent media outlets, designed to help you find peers, raise your profile, and build connections across borders.
Training and Resources. Exclusive access to our training programs and events, supplemented by our editorial content, practical guides, and analyses of industry trends.
